Promo channels

Description

Promo channels are a tool for tariff promotion in TVIP TMS. If a subscriber does not have a subscription to certain tariffs, they will see logos and advertising banners of the channels included in them in the general channel list and when searching for channels. These channels will be marked with a special icon. Clicking on the logo of such channel will open a promotional page with an offer to subscribe to the tariff it is included in.

The promo channels feature is currently supported on client applications for the following platforms:
  • Android;

  • iOS

  • Web-player;

  • Android TV;

  • Samsung Tizen (new and old app interface);

  • LG webOS (new application interface).

Setup

Promo channels are configured in several sections of the TVIP TMS control panel - Channels, Tariffs and Providers. The setting in the Channels section is not mandatory, as it only provides means for the creation of an advertising banner, and in case its absence the promotional page will display channel’s own logo.

To set up promotional channels within the tariff, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. In the Tariffs section of the TVIP TMS control panel, select the tariff for which you want to configure the promo channels option.

  2. On the page of the selected tariff go to the Advertising banner tab and upload two images in jpg format: the first one with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of at least 1760x1000 - used for all devices except mobile ones, and the second one with an aspect ratio of 1:1 and a resolution of at least 1500x1500 - used only for mobile devices). This step is not mandatory - if you ignore it, the tariff’s logo will be displayed as an advertising banner.

  3. Go back to the Main tab and on Tariffication section, enable the following toggles depending on your planned promotion policy:

    • Offer this package and its channels, according to the tariff availability settings - this toggle is responsible for offering channels from this tariff to subscribers in the general list as promo channels.

    • Do not promote other tariffs if the client is subscribed to this tariff - this toggle is responsible for disabling demonstration of promo channels (including those not available within this tariff) to the user subscribed to this tariff.

    Once done, click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.

To set up promotional channels within a virtual provider scope:

  1. In the Providers section of the TVIP TMS control panel, select the provider for which you want to configure the promotional channels option.

  2. On the page of the selected provider go to the Tariffication tab and click the + button above the table. After that the page of tariffication settings will be displayed, where you will need to fill in the following fields:

    • Price - string value of the tariff cost announced to the subscriber. This field is mandatory for filling.

    • Website - a website associated with the tariff (e.g. tariff page on the provider’s website).

    • Tariff - tariff for which conditions are being set up, selected from the list. This field is mandatory for filling.

    Warning

    The following fields define the cost of the service package within the tarification scope. In the current version they are ignored by the system in case the Price field is filled, but in the next versions it will be deprecated in their favor.

    • Cost - numerical value of the tariff cost.

    • Duration unit - basic unit of duration of service provision within the tariff. Available values: DAY (day), MONTH (month), YEAR (year).

    • Duration - integer value of duration of service provision within the tariff.

    • Currency - currency in which the tariff is paid.

Warning

If the fields Cost, Duration Unit, Duration and Currency have already been previously set in the tariff settings (see Tarifcation :ref:` Tariff Attributes <tms_tariff_options>`), the values filled at the current step (in case all four fields have been filled in) will override the original values for this virtual provider.

  1. Go back to the Main tab and in Contact Details section fill in the Contact Phone and Site fields - these details will be provided to the user to contact the provider for a subscription.

  2. After that, in the Settings section of the Main tab, enable the Show promo content toggle and click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Attention

If the tariff has the option “Offer this package and its channels according to the tariff availability settings” enabled, and the virtual provider has the option “Show promo content” enabled, the channels from the tariff will be displayed in the application even if no tarification has been configured within the provider scope.

  2. On the page of the selected channel go to the Advertising Banner tab and upload two images in jpg format: the first one with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of at least 1760x1000 - used for all devices except mobile ones, and the second one with an aspect ratio of 1:1 and a resolution of at least 1500x1500 - used only for mobile devices).
