Transcoder

Mira Transcoder can create multi-bitrate stream, change video parameters. Supports the ability to manage a group of sources, seamless switching between sources when the priority falls, returns to it when it is restored. Included in TVIP Mira.

Purpose

Prepare adaptive streams for playback on standard Smart TV players, mobile platforms, Android TV, web browsers. Transcoding allows devices with fast internet connections to receive high resolution video, while devices with slow connections can access low quality video.

Connecting to Channel Manager

To add a transcoder to the web interface, click the Transcoders tab on the left menu and click Add Transcoder.

Enter ip address, login and password to connect to the transcoder. Press Create button.

The created transcoder will be displayed in the list of transcoders.

After Channel Manager finishes polling the added transcoder, its panel will display the current configuration and load of the video card.

Attention

Saving the current transcoder configuration does not apply it. To apply the configuration, click the Apply config button in the transcoder panel. The current configuration is displayed on the transcoder list page in the Actual configuration column.

Adding a profile

To add a new profile, go to the Profiles tab on the left menu and click Add ProfilePreset.

Set name and select the Video Engine type from the drop-down list. Currently supported: Nvidia, Intel, FFMPEG.

In the audio profile set the number of incoming stream, number of output (transcoded) stream, codec and bitrate (bps).

To add a new video profile, set the incoming stream number, outgoing stream number, resolution, format, codec and bitrate (bps) of the video after transcoding.

Attention

If Pass through is selected, all values specified in the profile, except Input number and Output number, will not be applied.

The split option allow to switch the configuration to the Fork model.

Attributes

General

ID:

The sequence number of the created transcoder, assigned automatically, manual entry is not available.

Enabled:

Switching to the enable/disable status.

Address:

IP address or domain name of the host on which the transcoder is installed. Port default 8080.

Transcoder login:

User Name. Default name “Admin”.

Transcoder password:

User password. Default password “Admin”.

DM transcoder type:

The slider is switched automatically when older version equipment is detected for transcoding.

Transcoder state

Hardware:

Information about the equipment used for transcoding.

Config version:

Transcoder configuration version.

The field is read-only, the value is transmitted as a result of the Channel Manager transcoder polling.

Software version:

Transcoder firmware version.

Note

Last poll time:

The date and time (UTC) of the last transcoder poll.

Note

Uptime:

Continuous operation time of the transcoder.

Split config:

Used to switch the transcoder mode between Fork and Thread models.

ProfilePreset

Name:

Name of the new profile.

Video Engine:

The type of equipment used for transcoding.

Audio profiles:
Input number:

The number of the audio channel in the input stream.

Output number:

The number of the audio channel on the output stream.

Pass through:

Checkbox, select to get audio output with the same characteristics as the input.

Codec:

Audio codec (AAC codec is used).

Bitrate:

The bitrate of the audio track, specified in bits per second.

Video profiles:
Input number:

The number of the video stream in the input stream.

Output number:

The video stream number on the output stream.

Pass through:

Checkbox, select to get the output video with the same characteristics as the input.

Resolution:

Video resolution of the output stream.

Preset:

A set of optimal parameters affecting encoding speed and quality (the slower the encoding speed, the better the compression quality).

Codec:

Video codec of the output stream.

Filter:

Add Bi-lianer or Smooth downscaling, if necessary.

Bitrate:

Video bitrate of the output stream, specified in bits per second.

Framerate:

The speed at which a sequence of images is displayed on a screen.
